Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 24 (ANI): With people across the country mourning the killing of their relatives, friends and neighbours in the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, The Chairman of Islamic Centre of India, Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahli on Thursday condemned the horrific attack and also urged for people in Pakistan to raise their voices against it.
He also decried the 'religious talks on social media,' sending a wrong message on the international level, urging people to understand that terrorism has no religion.
'People of Pakistan should also raise their voice against such terrorism in their country so that their army and government are forced to stop such heinous acts,' Mahli told ANI.
Mahli, also a member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), urged restraint regarding religious discussions on social media.
'The religious talks going on social media are sending the wrong message at the international level. We all should understand that terrorists have no religion,' he said.
Urging for 'strong action' by the Centre after the all-party meet, which is going to be held at 6 PM today, he added, 'The country wants the government to take some big action so that we can get rid of such terrorism. Whatever steps the government has taken in this regard were necessary at the time... I hope that the all-party meeting will give a message that, in such an unfortunate time, the whole country is united.'
One person from Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, identified as Shubham Dwivedi, was also killed in the terror attack, with his wife recalling the incident of her husband being one of the first people to be shot.
'We gave an order for Maggi, then Shubham and I sat down. Dad was also in the bathroom. At that time, one person came from behind and he asked, 'Are you a Hindu or Muslim?' If you are a Muslim, then you first read the Kalma. We didn't even know, we looked back to see what was happening,' the wife said. 'They asked me whether he is Hindu or muslim, I told them Hindu, they killed him. The first shot was on him,' Eshanaay, the wife of the victim, told ANI.
Following the Pahalgam terror attack, where 26 people were killed by terrorists, the Centre has called for an all-party meeting in Parliament at 6 PM, where all aspects of security and the aftermath of the attack will be discussed by all. According to the sources, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will chair the all-party meeting in Parliament.
The attack, carried out by terrorists at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam on Tuesday, is one of the deadliest in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama strike in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed. (ANI)
